On May 21, 2018, Adobe, a multinational leader in digital technology solutions, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Magento Commerce, a market-leading platform for open commerce innovation that offers digital commerce, order management and business intelligence to enable both B2B and B2C shopping experiences across the customer journey.
Mark Lavelle, CEO at Magento Commerce states in their official press release that he, “couldn’t be more excited for the opportunities ahead of us to build on and expand our market leadership across content and commerce with stronger emphasis on our global partner network.” He continues to tell his audience that the combination that Adobe and Magento will bring to their customers puts them at the forefront of today’s experience-driven economy:
It is stated by Magento Commerce and Adobe that the official acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Until the transaction closes, each company will continue to operate independently, and once the deal closes, they will then share more details about the integration plans and service offerings.
With the addition of the Magento Commerce Cloud to the Adobe family they will enable commerce to be seamlessly integrated into the Adobe Experience Cloud, delivering a single platform that serves both B2B and B2C customers globally.
In the official press release from Adobe, Brad Rencher, executive vice president and general manager of Digital Experience at Adobe explains, “Adobe is the only company with leadership in content creation, marketing, advertising, analytics and now commerce – enabling real-time experiences across the entire customer journey. Embedding commerce into the Adobe Experience Cloud with Magento enables Adobe to make every moment personal and every experience shoppable.”
Echidna, a leading Systems Agency and Solutions Integration Partner of Magento Commerce, is excited to continue service with current clients on the Magento Commerce platform and grow new relationships with the upcoming acquisition by Adobe. Chip Winslow, President at Echidna, feels that the acquisition validates the direction of both Magento Commerce and Echidna and comments,
“This new combined entity will bring an unparalleled solutions offering to the global digital marketplace. The merger of Best in Class Magento Digital Commerce and Adobe Digital Experience Solutions will allow customers of all sizes and industries to take advantage of the most complete offering for years to come.
